Safety & wellbeingWhat are the key tips for keeping safe in my accommodation?

Our properties are all equipped with systems and services to help keep you safe and secure, however there’s a few things you can do too:

  • Be aware of tailgating. This is when someone tries to access the door behind you without using their fob, key card or key. If someone does tailgate behind you, you can report it to our emergency control centre on 0300 303 1611. Read more here.

  • Keep your flat and room doors locked. Even if you’re just popping out for 10 minutes, it’s always a good idea to lock your door behind you. Remember, your insurance cover depends on it!

  • Know where your emergency call point is. Outside every property there’s an emergency call point, usually in the form of a small silver box with an emergency button on it. It’s always a good idea to familiarise yourself with this in case you ever lose your keys or need some help and can’t call our emergency control centre.

  • Stay aware and know we’re here to listen. We’ve put procedures in place to make sure your home is safe and secure so you can get on with being you, however if you do notice anything that worries you, we’re here. Your reception team are on hand for anything you need, as well as our safety teams who are in your city overnight. We’re also available on 0300 303 1611 24/7, 365 days a year.

  • If you’re living in a ground floor room, please take extra care to make sure your window is closed properly when you leave your flat. If you have any concerns, you can chat to your reception team.
