Aberdeen is Scotland’s third-largest city, and the northernmost major city in the UK. While that means it is often chillier than other uni cities, it’s also one of Scotland’s sunniest towns. The Cairngorms National Park is only a bus ride from Aberdeen, boasting some of Scotland’s most iconic scenery, the second-highest mountain in Britain, and even a ski resort.

Booking your Aberdeen student accommodation as early as possible is the best way to go. The good news is you can book from the first week in November for the following academic year to secure your dream room. Student accommodation is usually on a first-come, first-served basis. So, when you book early, you’re more likely to have the best choice of room types. It also means you can lock in the price with no expected rises in costs.
If you’re going through clearing, there’s no need to worry. Most universities will keep rooms available within their accommodation for clearing students. That means we may still have some student accommodation in Aberdeen available. Even if there are no rooms, there’s the option to join the waiting list. And, if you don’t get your place, you can always cancel for free with our No Place, No Pay service.
Student accommodation in Aberdeen is affordable compared with many other cities in the UK. It’s possible to find rooms for under £100 per-week, although this will likely be for a basic room. For en-suites and studios closer to university, you can expect to pay more in the region of £120-£140 per-week.
Aberdeen student accommodation is extremely secure. Unite Students properties are all accessed by a fob or card system, and each room has its own secure lock. We also have CCTV, a concierge with 24/7 assistance, and an on-site service team if you ever need them.
As a compact city sandwiched between the North Sea and Cairngorm National Park, Aberdeen doesn’t have a very big suburban area. This means most students live in and around the city centre. Aberdeen is a thriving student hub, with plenty of activities and things to do. Our Causeway View accommodation is just over a ten-minute walk from Brewdog – the city’s flagship pub.
You can view student accommodation in Aberdeen before booking with Unite Students. We’ve created virtual tours so you can view our properties online, but there’s also the option to view the property in person. You can book a viewing online, or email or phone us to arrange one.

Aberdeen has a relatively low cost of living when compared to other UK cities. Scotland in general is cheaper to live in than England, and Aberdeen is more affordable than the likes of Edinburgh. There also are plenty of shops, bars and restaurants catering to student budgets. However, students should consider how often they might want to visit family and factor this into their budget, as Aberdeen is a long way to travel for the majority of people living in the UK.
